"Johnny Daugherty Receives Discharge...Johnny Daugherty, a twice-wounded Korean Veteran, returned home Sunday afternoon from Ft.Lewis, Wash., having received his discharge.
Mrs. Hattie Place, his aunt was holding a pot-luck dinner Sunday at her home when Johnny walked in un-expected.
Attending the dinner at the Place home were Mrs. Maud DeLong and son , Earl, of Sandy Ore., Mrs. Edith Noble of Portland, Ore., Fred Daugherty and Johnny, Mrs. Edna Pesicka and son, Pat Pesicka and his three sons, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Sisco, Mrs. Benj. Franklin and family, Mr. and Mrs. John McGirr, Bob Daugherty, and Mr. and Mrs. Jack Henninger, of Miller."
What a treasure to have this simple piece! Can you imagine how everyone felt seeing Johnny home? I'd like to make mention of the people at Hattie's. At the time, I believe that my grandma and grandpa, Irene and Fred I. Daugherty were living in Colorado Springs, Colo. I'm sure that Gram would have loved to have been there.
